Sahih al-Bukhari 1661

It is related that 'A'isha said, "Safiyya started menstruating on the night of departure and she said, 'I think I will hold you back.' The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'What a nuisance! Did she do tawaf on the day of sacrifice?'" It was said, 'Yes.' He said, 'Then we can leave.'" It is related that 'A'isha said, "We went out with the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, mentioning only hajj. When we arrived, he commanded us to come out of ihram. When the night of departure came, Safiyya bint Huyayy started menstruating. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'What a nuisance! I think that she will detain you.' Then he said, 'Did you do tawaf on the day of sacrifice?' She replied, 'Yes.' He said, 'Then we can leave.' I said, 'Messenger of Allah, I have not gone into ihram.' He said, 'Do 'umra from at-Tan'im.'" Her brother went with her. "We met him at the end of the night. He said, 'You will be met in such-and-such a place.'" Return to Contents Return to Home Page
