It is related by Zaynab, the daughter of Umm Salama, that when Umm Habiba bint Abi Sufyan was informed about her father's death, she called for perfume and rubbed it on her arms, saying, "I have no need of perfume where it not that I heard the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, 'It is not lawful for a Muslim woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to mourn for a dead person more than three unless it is her husband. She should mourn him for four months and ten days.'" XLIX. The prices of prostitutes and invalid marriage Al-Hasan said, "When someone marries a woman forbidden by lineage while he is not unaware of that, they are separated and she has what she took (as a dower) and nothing else. Then he said after that, "She takes her dower."
