Sahih al-Bukhari 5165

'Amir ibn Sa'd related that his father said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, came to visit me when I was very ill at the time of the Farewell Hajj. I said, 'You see how severe my illness it. I have property and my only heir is my daughter. Can I give away two-thirds of it as sadaqa?' 'No,' he answered. I said, 'A half?' 'No,' he answered. I said, 'A third.' He said, 'A third is a lot. It is better to leave your heirs wealthy than to leave them poor, begging from people. You will be rewarded for whatever you spend for the sake of Allah, even what you put in your wife's mouth.'" XVII. The words of a sick person, "Leave me!"
